ABOUT Breast Enlargement
Overview
Breast enlargement is a surgical procedure for making breasts bigger and improving its shape. This operation is also called breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty. The operation includes the placement of an implant in the breast by the surgeon. An implant is a soft silicone shell that is filled with silicone gel or saline (salt water).
For inserting an implant into the breast, the doctor makes an incision (cut) in one of the following areas: bottom of the breast, along the lower edge of the areola (colored area around the nipple) or in the armpit. The surgeon carefully puts an implant to the correct position and shape after that the incision is being closed with the stitches.
As well an implant can be placed under the chest muscle beneath the breast or under the breast tissue. Some doctors believe that implanting under the chest muscle lowers risks of capsular contracture (hardening of tissue around the implant).
Same time with the breast augmentation breast lift can be done. This procedure raises sagging breasts as well as nipples and areola. During this operation the doctor removes excess skin around the areola and at the bottom of the breast. Remaining skin is then brought together and leads to tightening and raising up breasts.
However, breast lifting requires a larger cut than a breast augmentation. The incision may go from the areola to the crease below the breast.
Breast enlargements and lifts are made by professional surgeons in clinics with modern equipment.Generally, patients are required to stay overnight in the hospital after breast lift and after breast augmentation the patients do not need to stay overnight in the clinic. During the operation, the general anesthesia is injected usually.
After Surgery Recovery
After the surgery over the incisions is placed and breasts are being wrapped in an elastic bandage or supported by special bra. The stitches may be removed in 7-10 days.
The patient may feel swelling, bruising and soreness in the breasts for several days after the surgery which is concerned as normal condition after the surgery. Right after surgery some patients have a burning feeling in their nipples. Swelling and bruising may last for several weeks.
• The patient is advised to wear a support bra for 24 hours a day, which will help toreduce swelling while the breasts heal.
• The surgeon will advise to take a proper and effective medicine to release the pain.
Commonly after the surgery the patient will be able to return to casual life within a few days. Heavy liftings and sport exercises will be allowed by the doctor when it is safe and breast is totally healed.
